The majority of my adult life I enjoyed being an independent Graphic Artist along with my husband. While I truly enjoyed this career, it also served as my means of livelihood. Collaborating with renowned companies such as Apple, IBM, 3M, and many others often led to a tug-of-war between my creative desires and their expectations for payment. Although I appreciate that aspect of art, I find painting to be a much more serene and fulfilling process.

Indiana is where I spent my childhood on a quaint farm. My whole family worked the land, fed the cows, cared for the pigs, and experienced both the joys and challenges of landownership while striving to make it a success. It was hard to make a good living on a farm. As a child, my parents shielded me and my siblings from the reality of our financial situation. Instead, I grew up feeling that I possessed all the essentials: love, happiness, a deep sense of gratitude and exceptional appreciation for nature.

Even though I resided in metropolitan areas for decades, nature is always on my mind and frequently serves as a source of inspiration for my creativity. One of my favorite artistic pursuits, alongside painting, is Nature Journaling. I find immense joy in exploring the outdoors, taking note of its intricate beauty and remarkable characteristics, and then illustrating and writing about my observations. Numerous experiences find their way into my finished paintings.

I create art across various mediums, frequently blending them into mixed-media pieces. Most of my projects involve one or more of the following: watercolor, ink (line art), acrylic, and graphite. Regardless of whether I'm creating a small miniature or a large canvas, my work is defined by meticulous attention to detail. This commitment shines through not only in the artistic process itself but also in the research and historical context of my subjects.

Art is a driving force in my life. It gives me purpose and validation… I am an artist.

Absorbing myself into an art project, using my creative right brain to escape all the analytical aspects of my left-brain life, helps keep me sane.
