A New Chapter: Moving Back Home as an Artist

December 2022 marks a new chapter in my art. After the past 3 years of using a separate painting studio away from home, I've finally moved back to the comfort of my own house. I'm thrilled to have both a watercolor studio and an acrylic studio set up on two levels of my house.

That was the first away studio I've ever had. I didn't find the physical and mental separation of working away from home beneficial. I had hoped by having a dedicated studio, I'd be able able to focus on painting without being distracted by the everyday tasks of home life. Instead I found new distractions and just longed to be at home.

I'm more motivated and inspired when I have all of my art supplies and materials at home. I'm excited to no longer have to travel to my away studio, and I'm looking forward to the freedom of being able to work on my art at any time of the day or night.

My watercolor studio is filled with light, and the view from the windows looks out over my large yard, deck, and lots of bird feeders. I'm planning on using this space to create light and airy pieces that capture the beauty of nature. My acrylic studio is located in a darker part of my home, and I'm looking forward to experimenting and create pieces inspired by my own photography.

I'm so happy to have both of these studios in my home, and I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of new artwork I can create in these inspiring spaces.

Really enjoyed displaying my finished paintings,
but working there was not something I was comfortable with.

Thank you everyone for visiting while I was there!

In the end, it was the right decision to move out.
