The Story
Flutter of One was inspired by the idea behind the Butterfly Effect, the thought that even the smallest movement can create ripples far beyond what we imagine. One gentle flutter may seem insignificant, yet it can set unseen forces in motion, connecting moments and places in surprising ways.
As I painted this piece, it also brought back memories of childhood on the farm, when butterflies would drift across the wide blue sky on warm summer days. Their quiet presence felt magical, fragile yet strong, always moving, always changing.
In this painting, the lone wing becomes a symbol of that delicate balance. It reminds us that small things matter. Just like the butterfly’s light flutter, our words, choices, and actions can travel outward in ways we may never fully see—quietly shaping the world around us.
Why Collect This Piece
I splashed around with some watery acrylic ink on canvas to create a background that mimicked a loose watercolor then let it completely dry. After it hung on my wall for a while, one day, I gave it a good, hard stare. Inspiration struck like lightning! I grabbed my trusty black acrylic pen and made my moves. Suddenly, it started fluttering into the form of a butterfly wing. Seeing where it was headed, I dove in with the smaller details, adding white and yellow accents to bring it to life.
