A quiet moment, a lifelong devotion.

The Story

Queen Elizabeth II was known around the world for her grace, her sense of duty, and her unmistakable style. But those who loved her also knew another constant companion by her side, her beloved corgis.

In Royal Bond, the Queen stands gently with her back to the viewer, dressed in one of her signature blue suits and floral hat. Perched comfortably on her shoulder is a small corgi puppy, confidently gazing out at the world. The pup appears completely at ease, perfectly at home in her presence.

This painting captures more than a likeness, it reflects a feeling. The closeness of the small dog suggests trust and affection, while the Queen’s calm posture conveys steadiness and care. Together, they embody a quiet understanding of loyalty, comfort, and companionship.

Sometimes the most meaningful moments aren’t found in grand ceremonies, but in the small, tender connections that define a life.

How It Came to Life

My fascination with historical figures and their pets was ignited by an earlier painting of Abraham Lincoln alongside one of his cherished cats. To emphasize the animal rather than the individual, I opted for a tall and narrow format. I used a line and wash technique on stretched watercolor paper to create a gentle and fluid appearance. The artwork is sealed with wax resin, eliminating the need for glass protection.
