Have you ever been at the right place at the right time and felt like you just struck gold?

That was my feeling after I walked into the back warehouse area of a well know art materials store.

There on a shelf were the cutest 3.5"x5.5", high quality Stillman & Birn sketchbooks on clearance at over 75% off! WOW! I couldn't resist buying ALL 6. A couple weeks later I went back and WOW AGAIN, at least a dozen on clearance. And a couple weeks later again, wouldn't know it, another dozen waiting right there on clearance for me.

Now I have a wonderful collection of consistent size and quality little sketchbooks. I've started labeling them in different themes that interest and have meaning to me. Flowers, Bugs, Around the House... anything I want to sketch, study and remember.

This year I'm using them for my daily art. If I'm not involved in a bigger project that occupies all my time (like special paintings for shows), I turn to my little sketchbooks to doodle and paint.

Here you can see some of the sketchbooks and a few paintings and sketches I've worked on so far this year.
